Famous Strawberry Farm at Cameron Highlands
Strawberry Farm at Cameron Highlands
Strawberry farm is one of the must-visit locations when tourists travel to Cameron Highlands. Cameron Highlands is the center of strawberry production in Malaysia. The cold climate makes it suitable for cultivating strawberries all year round throughout the highlands, with most farms concentrated at Tanah Rata, Brinchang, and Kea Farm. When in the season, many of these farms offer strawberry picking by hand to attract visitors.
Since the strawberry farm is very popular, more and more strawberry farm is open. Here are the most famous: Big Red Strawberry, Kok Lim Strawberry, Raaju’s Hill Strawberry, S’Corner Central Market, and Blueberry Earthouse.
Big Red Strawberry Farm, Brinchang
Big Red Strawberry Farm, also known as Taman Agro Tourism, is an agricultural center growing strawberries and organic salad-based vegetables on a steep hill slope overlooking Brinchang town center. Accessible by a backdoor route from Star Regency Hotel (signboards along the main road, the same direction as Cactus Valley), the farm is one of Brinchang’s most popular tourist attractions, featuring a large cafe, product shop, vegetable market, and strawberry picking. Open daily from morning till evening, entrance is free but visitors driving personal vehicles need to beware the steep road incline both when entering and exiting back to Brinchang.
Kok Lim Strawberry Farm, Brinchang
Kok Lim Strawberry Farm is a popular tourist attraction located along the main road shortly after leaving Brinchang town towards Kea Farm. One of the largest strawberry farms in Cameron Highlands, Kok Lim also houses a vegetable market, shopping gallery, vintage cafe, and pastry corner within the complex. Besides fresh strawberries available for sale daily, visitors can also pick their own load by weight at the farm, nestled on hill slopes behind. Parking lots along the main road provide ample space for most vehicles even on weekends. Time Tunnel, a museum dedicated to colonial-era antiques and heritage, occupies a section of the building at Kok Lim Strawberry Farm.
Raaju’s Hill Strawberry Farm, Kea Farm
Raaju’s Hill is a strawberry farm and cafe perched on a ridgetop at Kea Farm, situated along the main road opposite the entrance of Equatorial Resort which is about 3km north of Brinchang town. A popular tourist attraction on weekends, the farm offers strawberry picking by weight or fresh strawberries sold at a counter daily. The cafe has an extended dining deck suitable for large groups, with a selection of pastries, cakes, shakes, waffles, and ice cream from the menu. Nestled on top of the building is also a small roof terrace that overlooks the rainforest emanating from Gunung Brinchang – visitors can bring their tea and snacks here to enjoy the view around picnic tables.
S’Corner Central Market Kea Farm, Brinchang
S’Corner Central Market is a strawberry farm at Brinchang, located 2km north of town along the main road a short distance before reaching Kea Farm. Besides strawberries, the farm also features a large shopping complex that houses vegetable markets, souvenir shops, and cafes in the style of traditional coffee shops called ‘Kopitiam’. Nestled on a hill slope with adjoining parking lots that provide lots of space for vehicles, S’Corner is a popular stopover for tea and shopping while in transit to Brinchang or Kea Farm. Open daily from morning till evening, visitors can also purchase ready-packed strawberries from the market.
Blueberry Earthouse Strawberry Farm
Blueberry Earthouse is a farm at Brinchang growing strawberries, blueberries, and a limited selection of vegetables. Located off the main road at Kea Farm (along with the access route to Sungai Palas Tea Plantation and Mossy Forest), it can be reached from a left junction shortly after passing Butterfly Garden towards Tringkap. While blueberries are a novel attraction at the farm, its most shrinking feature is a large mud house that houses a cafe serving Penang Peranakan cuisine, with striking views of the valley from an adjoining balcony deck. The mud house also has a ‘living’ roof draped with grass and small flowering shrubs. Open daily, strawberry picking is also available for visitors.
