Road Travel
We are strongly recommended you drive carefully & use low gear when you’re driving your own transport to Cameron Highlands. There are many trucks and buses on the roads along the way on the road to Cameron Highlands from Tapah. Normally the trucks and buses will give you a signal to overtake when it is safe enough.
Another way you can drive from Ipoh Simpang Pulai to Cameron Highlands is your first stop is Kampung Raja. I advise you can come from Ipoh Simpang Pulai and then go back to follow Tapah because Ipoh’s new road is more suitable for driving, Tapah road like a snake you must drive slowly.
Avoid traveling alone at night because sometimes the mist is terrible until you cannot see clearly. Please take note that there is no street light for a certain area and there is very limited mobile phone coverage. Try to drive within your skill limitation, always in low gear because that will help you to negotiate corners better.

The Township
I advise you to wear a jacket because of the cool temperature in Cameron Highlands. The wind will let you feel cool even can see the hot sun. The temperature can drop in the late evenings and raining time, you should wear a jacket. Normally nighttime on Cameron Highlands is around 20-23’C, and you will feel cool by opening the window. You prepare a jacket which is better than finding a new jacket on Cameron Highlands.
Most of the food (Malay, Chinese, Indian Food, Western food) is available in Cameron Highlands. Due to the higher transportation cost, food price is slightly higher compared to the foods in major city like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Ipoh. Especially during peak season most of the restaurants which cater to tourists are located. I strongly recommend you ask the price before you order the food. I suggest you order the local vegetables more than meat because local vegetables are fresh.
Coverage for mobile phones is available around the major towns, but the signal will be weak. The 4G network is supported by Tanah Rata and Brinchang but not the whole of Cameron Highlands. During the peak season, too many tourists use the phone line. Sometimes the phone signal will be interrupted.
Credit cards are accepted in most big hotels. You may not be able to use credit cards at almost all of the restaurants and attraction points. Most tourists are paying by cash, not many people know use e-wallets like boost, touch and go and grab pay here.
Banks are only open on weekdays and generally only between the hours of 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. Especially the money changer counter until 5.30 pm. All banks above have ATM machines to cater to after-hours transactions.
